About Us

River City Church exists to encounter the Author of love and engage our community in that love.

Why love? Because in the Bible, Jesus said, “People will know that you are my followers by your love.” So we choose to be defined by our love, because we want people to know that we are following Jesus – the REAL Jesus.

So how do we plan on doing this? Simple:

Through authentic community, life-changing experiences, and life on purpose!

Authentic community, because we believe that Jesus loves family and Jesus loves diversity! Life-changing experiences, because we believe that Jesus can change your life! Life on purpose, because Jesus wants us to live our lives on purpose – and ultimately, so do we!

We are River City Church.

Changed by love!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What do you believe about the Bible?

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (2 Timothy 3:16)

What do you believe about God?

But for us, there is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live. (1 Corinthians 8:6)
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

What do you believe about sin?

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23)
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12)
Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. (James 1:14-15)

What do you believe about Jesus?

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. (Romans 5:10)

What do you believe about salvation?

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
