WHAT TO EXPECT

At River City Church, our goal is to become more like Jesus with our head, heart, hands, and habits- and we do this in some creative ways! We gather every Sunday morning at 9:30am for Sunday School and 10:30am for about an hour and a half service (location details here). Our Sunday rhythm is unique, so read more below – and check out our home page to see what’s coming up this month!

By the way, we donate $5 to a local nonprofit for every first time guest, and $10 for every second time guest. It’s our way of saying thanks for hanging out with us and seeing what River City is all about!

STUDY Days: 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month

This is “church” as you may already know it! We gather for worship and an encouraging/challenging message from God’s Word (click here to watch previous messages). Learn more about our Kids’ Ministry by clicking here!

What do STUDY Days look like?

-Arrive a few minutes early to grab some free, house-roasted coffee and drop your kids off in Kids Ministry (or grab some Busy Bags and keep them in the gathering with you)

-Worship music

-Announcements/volunteer opportunities

-An encouraging and challenging message from God’s Word

-Small discussion groups to process the message (don’t worry, these groups are super casual, and you’re welcome to sit and listen to others’ perspectives if you’d rather not voice yours)

-An opportunity to respond to the message by requesting prayer or guidance, and experiencing Communion (totally optional)

SERVE Days: 2nd Sunday of each month

We spend the 2nd Sunday of each month serving the community together! This can be anything from a giant Christmas party and toy shop for immigrant families, to picking up trash along the Fourth Plain Corridor. Volunteerism is a huge part of our DNA.

The vast majority of SERVE Days are family friendly, and volunteers open our Nursery for projects where younger kids may not want to participate (like picking up trash along a busy street). Many of our SERVE Days correspond with a donation drive where we ask people to bring school supplies, diapers, etc for specific community needs. PLAY Days: 4th Sunday of each month

On the 4th Sunday of each month, we simply spend time together and get to know others in the community! Examples include our annual Ice Cream Sun(day) competition, backyard BBQs, our Multicultural Thanksgiving Feast with organizations and churches from various cultures, and more. PLAY Days create a welcome space to cultivate friendships and connect with people.

MULTIPLY Celebrations: 5th Sunday (a few times each year)

In those unique months with 5 Sundays, we take the 5th Sunday to celebrate what God is doing in our church and community! These gatherings look a little different each time, but we usually have an opportunity for people to share what God has been teaching them in this season. We often have baptisms during MULTIPLY Celebrations, as well as unique events like baby dedications, etc.
